Cactus Teething Toy Crochet Pattern

Have you ever had a great idea and it totally falls through? Yeah, that totally happened this week.

I had planned for a different cactus pattern (since I’m “stuck” on them) but it didn’t quite turn out. So, luckily for you, I have a different cactus pattern that whips up fast.

It’s perfect for those last-minute baby shower invites, or for a visit to a friend with a teething toddler. Especially when that blanket you’re making for them STILL isn’t finished. (Yeah, I see you!)

I really like this teething toy pattern because it fits into little mouths and has hand holds for all size teethers. Just wet it through and pop it in the freezer for an easily reusable teething toy.

Let’s get crafty!

*This pattern is written in U.S. terms.

*This project is worked in rows.

*Your total stitch count will be in parentheses at the end of every row. This will help you to keep count of your stitches and make sure the finished product looks right. Chains and Slip Stitches do not count as stitches.

*I recommend crocheting over your yarn tails to make less work of weaving in ends when finishing off your work. You can find tutorials online or follow the instructions provided.

Sc in the next 8 Sc in the body of the cactus. Sl st to beginning Sc and Finish Off, weaving in all ends.

The cactus may be a little twisty and refuse to lay flat. That’s okay! You can spray it with a bit of water and stretch it out on a blocking board. Or, you can put it under something flat and heavy, like a wide water bottle or a book or whatever is handy that you don’t mind getting damp.

Make a little group of these awesome teething toys and present them with pride at your next baby shower. They also work great as garland pieces. What else can you do with these little flat cacti? Be sure to let me know and hashtag your ideas #3rdHouseCreations to share with everyone!

Have an awesome day!
